Caribbean Shores and Mayan Lands

Sometimes, we all fancy a holiday somewhere that little bit special. Whether you've got your eye on a safari to see the Big Five in Kenya, a city break of a lifetime in Hong Kong or perhaps a lavish cruise around the Caribbean, there's a far-flung holiday hotspot with your name on it.

For a knock-out beach break in dreamy surroundings that wouldn't go amiss in a Bond movie, Mexico's Caribbean Coast is the obvious choice. It's got sweeping white sandy bays, pristine shores with some of the best dive sites you'll ever find, and a glorious climate to boot. And what's more, there's a long list of things to do over and above topping up your tan under those cloudless blue skies. Explore forgotten Mayan ruins, spend a day hiking in the mountains or follow a guide into Mexico's steamy jungles. One thing's for sure, a holiday here certainly ticks plenty of boxes.

And if cost is high on the agenda, don't rule out the Caribbean just yet. Cheap holidays to Mexico might not be as low in price as a jaunt to Spain, but you can still find plenty of late deals and special offers on trips to Mexico's Caribbean Coast – it just takes a little time.

Let's say you're after discount family holidays for instance. In this sun-drenched corner of the world, holidays are big business – so you'll find plenty of competitive prices between the major tour operators. When travelling with children you're most likely to be holidaying during the school holidays, which bumps the prices up. So your best bet is to look for late deals leaving within the next few weeks, or plan ahead and book as soon as next year's brochures hit the shelves. You'll often get great discounts along with the chance to spread the cost of your trip, which all helps to make things that little bit easier.
