Jeddah Party Tips from the American Consulate (via Wikileaks)

A document released today by the controversial website Wikileaks describes the 'underground party scene' of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.  Wikileaks is far from my usual source for party tips but this particular cable caught my attention.  According to the classified cable, authored by Consul General Martin R. Quinnt, Jeddah's 'underground nightlife for Jeddah’s elite youth is thriving and throbbing.' The Cable reports that consulate officers attended a Halloween party hosted by a Saudi prince and that 'the scene resembled a nightclub anywhere outside the Kingdom: plentiful alcohol, young couples dancing, a DJ at the turntables, and everyone in costume" and that the party even had a corporate sponsor.
I have no idea as to why this information is of interest to the U.S. government (maybe Consulate General Quint wasn't invited) but one thing was made clear in the cable, if you want to party in Jeddah you just need to be friends with the right people.

See the leaked cable Here.
